Ron Bourgeois
Ron Bourgeois joined R. L. Townsend & Associates, Inc. as a Consultant in 2005 after his early retirement of thirty-three years of progressive experience with General Motors at Plant, Headquarters, and Corporate staff levels.
Mr. Bourgeois recent experience includes assignments in Internal Control, Business and Construction Corporate Audit, Supplier Audit, and Construction Purchasing. Ron recovered over $70 million in the last thirteen years for General Motors while on these assignments.
As Group Leader of Internal Controls, within the Facilities Department, Ron assisted in the development of business processes, such as, the Project Management Process for Construction and Machinery/Equipment. This is a self-assessment process that requires the active involvement and participation of operating management and employees in the identification and management of risk. In addition, reviews were performed of operating departments to determine the extent of compliance to procedures and good business practices. Reviews included Construction Projects, Owner Controlled Insurance Programs, Professional Service Contracts, and Construction Claims.
During his twelve years on the Corporate Audit Services Staff, as an Auditor, Lead Auditor and General Supervisor Ron planned, coordinated, and performed the following types of Audits: Business, Financial, Obsolescence, Advertising, Terminations/Cancellations, Special Investigative, Contract Compliance, and Construction Audits of Assembly, Manufacturing, and Office Facilities. Additionally, he assisted in the development and implementation of the General Motors Construction General Conditions, the Construction Audit Process and Procedures, and the Common Project Management Process. Further, Ron gave presentations to General Motors personnel sharing his experiences on Advertising and Construction Auditing.
As a special assignment Ron was transferred to Worldwide Purchasing – Construction and Professional Services, to learn and make recommendations relative to construction management buying. His assignments included but were not limited to: attending pre-bid clarification and change order meetings; presenting sourcing recommendations, resolving and negotiating field order changes; preparing and presenting change order process guidelines to contractors.
In 1996 Ron was awarded GM Audit Services Outstanding Achievement Recognition.
Other assignments in General Motors included, Financial Advisor for a Plant Warehouse, Plant Internal Control Coordinator, and Supervisor of Cost and Accounts Payable.
