W. Nicholas Milburn
Nick Milburn joined R. L. Townsend & Associates, Inc. as a Consultant in 1998. During the past twenty-seven years he has enjoyed diverse, professional career experiences at the executive level in a broad range of business activities within public accounting, internal auditing, financial analyst and controller disciplines.
Prior to joining R. L. Townsend & Associates, Inc., he obtained his public accounting experience at Price Waterhouse, and served as senior bank examiner for a leading commercial bank where he started his internal audit career.
In 1976, he was recruited by one of the nation’s largest retail mall developers, The Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation in Youngstown, Ohio, to increase the importance of internal auditing and develop it organizationally to a department level function with a staff of fifteen professionals. In the term of twelve years in the Internal Auditing Department, he served as supervisor, manager and director. As director, he presided over audits for the corporation and its diversified operations in the areas of construction, hotels/motels, racetracks, sports arenas, and retail shopping malls. The remaining seven years at DeBartolo afforded the positions of director of retail investments/special projects, and property and financial manager.
In 1996, Mr. Milburn joined the Mariner Properties Group of Ft. Myers, as a director of Finance, and in 1997 he was hired as a vice-president of Finance and controller for Palmer Ranch Development Ltd.
His auditing and business career has afforded a wide-range of professional development with varied audit experience. Construction auditing review experience was gained in projects of: regional shopping malls, mixed-use retail centers, office buildings, and office parks.
Mr. Milburn is a 1971 graduate of Cleveland State University (Cleveland, Ohio) where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in accounting.
